Just three more days until January 18th, and we’re counting down to it. Aside from showcasing her talents in dance and singing (whether on public stage or via her own private SNS channels), Minzy has also shown to us that she’s been furthering her other areas of interests such as artwork, photography skills, knitting and even composing/writing.
In this roundtable discussion with the EM Staffers, we’ve posed some questions related to Minzy’s non-performance interests ^^
Question 1 – Seeing as Minzy has been extra proud of her craftwork (especially her artwork & photography) skills this year, which one was your favorite?
Margarida: I totally think she’s right to feel proud of what she’s doing, no matter what art/thing it is (dancing, singing, writing, etc.) If anything, she should be because she’s talented! It’s good that she tries to showcase what she can do in more than one area because we never know where that’s going to lead right?
But redirecting back to the actual question, hmm… If I had to choose a favorite it, would totally be her handmade jacket! It’s such an amazing jacket – I’d use it myself without hesitation. Seems like Minzy’s got a hand of making her own clothes as well. Maybe a clothing line in the upcoming future?
Lena: I’m really proud of Minzy’s skills, but I’m not that fan of her drawing even if I love the last ones done with the phone (Globalblackjacks posted those ones). The work she created that I like the most is… her jackets!! You know the two jackets she made herself ? Definitely my favorite ! I really like seeing her wearing her jackets at the airport or on stage. Honestly I’d like to see her open a clothes shop – I’d definitely would buy that kind of jackets!! I wonder if she keeps creating lately… What would be awesome would be to see her create her own stage outfit for a concert or a comeback stage!
Hiyori: All! But especially her painting. Great pictures.
Tyler: I like the artwork ‘Dirty Money’. For some reason I think the way the artwork comes together is very interesting. The lines and the colors go well together and it really leaves an impact on me. My favorite picture was the one she took for a Nikon mission of the dog. To me it look like she captured the essence of the dog and I just really love that picture.
Haruna: I love THIS particular artwork! You can tell what she likes from this artwork and I also like the colours 🙂 It’s a good mix of dark and bright colours. 🙂
Liam: I think my favorite artwork from her would have to be the custom-designed Gundam figure she made! As a Gundam fan and a Blackjack, it was the best of both worlds!
Question 2 – Minzy has been recommending fans books and songs through the year. If you could recommend a poem, book, or song to Minzy, what would it be and why?
Eron: Well, based on her tweets, you can tell that she’s an intellectual and spiritual person, so for books, I would recommend Mitch Albom books like Five People You Meet in Heaven. For songs, well the first one to come to mind are songs by Hillsong ,which I think she also liked since she sang one of their songs in MinzyTV.
Margarida: I’m not quite sure how to answer this since I’m not a big reader neither do I know a lot of poems. But if I had to choose a song– it would probably be any of Ed Sheeran’s songs. They’re relaxing and beautifully written songs with amazing guitar melodies. I’m sure she’d love them as much as I do.
Liam: For Minzy, I would recommend something from author John Green. I’ve heard a lot of good things about his books from friends, even though I myself have not read any of them.
Heizen: Little things by 1D. It’s my favorite 1D song keke but aside from that, it’s an “appreciation song”, kind of a very sweet song. It was written about all the best things about someone, the things you wouldn’t expect. I don’t know if Minzy will like it lol but I hope she will. 🙂
Lena: Haha. I already did that when I was in Korea – a long list of music from various countries she should listen to. In this list you could find D’espairs Ray (an awesome Japanese rock band), Shimizu Shota (a great Japanese R’n’B singer), Lacuna Coil (I think I included), and the French group Dolly. I also bought her book like Le Petit Prince, and some books by Amélie Nothomb. If I should recommend her more… Probably French writers like Baudelaire or Rimbaud – their poems are beautiful.
Tyler: I’d recommend the song “Lovely Day” by Bill Withers. The song itself just puts you in a good mood. And out of nowhere, even if you don’t hear the song from the beginning, as soon as the chorus comes in you’ll automatically start singing “A Lovely Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay” and try to hold the note for as long as the singer does…it’s fun.
Haruna: Well….I don’t really read many books so I think she would be the one introducing me to new books. 🙂
Besides helping fans become exposed to a greater range of books and music, learning about her non-performance side interests also allows us a better glimpse into our maknae’s mind and what she might want to do in the future. Will she create music inspired by the artists she shares or become an amazing fashion designer? We don’t know, but we do know that whatever she decides to do, it’ll for sure be great and amazing ^^
Before ending this off, we’d also like to share one more touching response to our D-5 question “What is your most memorable Minzy moment from 2012?” by Dustin. We cannot agree more with his answer to the question. Minzy truly is a very strong girl and not to mention, professional too. Remember how it was reported that she insisted on the I Love You promotions to still keep going? Amazing, that’s what she is ♥
Dustin: The most memorable moment for me was when Minji went to the I Love You pre recording after her Grandmother’s burial. I was greatly worried for her but she stood on stage and smiled at the fans just to show that there is nothing to be worried about. At that moment, I knew.. Gong Minji is a VERY strong girl.
Make sure to leave your thoughts on our two questions of the day – we just might share it with everyone in our next roundtable! ^^ And once again, let’s not forget, it’s D-3 to her 20th Birthday! The day just keeps approaching faster and faster!! Are you excited as we are?!
