I made a promise to myself that I shouldn’t miss 2NE1′s next concert here in the Philippines, which was timely because I only became a fan with “I AM THE BEST.” Nothing like checking the tour setlist to motivate me, because all the songs I like from To Anyone and CRUSH were included in it!

The girls didn’t waste any time. A couple of minutes past eight in the evening, the girls made their way toward the stage with an explosive opening number (“CRUSH”/”FIRE”).

“CRUSH”

It was my second time to be in the standing section, and I didn’t expect it to be that rowdy. Imagine the MRT rush hour pushing to the 20th power. Plenty of girls had to make their way out because it was just unbelievably hot and others felt that they might faint any minute. I wasn’t planning to squeeze my way into the thick crowd so I settled for my spot at the back, but a few minutes after, I found myself effortlessly wading my way through the hyped, energetic crowd.

Let’s just say that it felt like a gym workout/sauna in the standing section. For a while I thought about my spending decisions; that I paid for something that would leave me drenched in sweat and be potentially hurt/injured in the process. My neck’s muscles still ache as I type this because there were parts that all I could see were the huge phones attached to selfie sticks/monopods. My legs hurt from all the tiptoeing and I swear my toes were swearing (because girl in front of me was wearing these huge block heel. SOLID). Despite the painful struggles, I just remind myself that there’s no way am I watching this perfectly awesome show on that tiny screen, because I paid for the live experience. Just look at Minzy and her awesomeness.

And while I’m at it, here’s a shoutout to concert venues. Please update your list of prohibited items. Let’s start with that ever-annoying, obviously inappropriate, and potentially dangerous selfie sticks/monopods. And oh, make sure to ban the use of tablets for recording videos/taking photos because again, I didn’t go to a concert to watch my fave acts on a filter that is a person’s tablet screen.

“Missing You”

Majority of us were distracted in the first few minutes of the show because there were concertgoers who had to be carried outside by the bouncers. I felt bad for them because they were only doing their job, but I have to admit that they blocked the view sometimes.

Now on to the program.

I was mesmerized by the girls, especially CL and Minzy. I’ve seen them in their performances in YouTube, but nothing beats the real deal.

“Do You Love Me?”

Maybe all their years of training had to do with their impressive energy and commanding stage presence on screen. It seems to me that they’re just doing what they do best while having fun.

So much energy from these girls

CL had her solo part, and once again it left me wondering where she gets all the swagger from.

By the way, Sandara/Dara taught the girls “Boom Panes,” a catchphrase that was recently turned into a song of some sort. I’m not a fan of this pauso, but I have to say that CL was so adorable when she tried singing it, too. She also speaks flawless English.

Was this during “I Don’t Care?”

One thing I noticed about Park Bom is that she has this cute habit of tapping her bangs, as if to fix them–and oh, as if they even need some fixing. She’s a living doll!

Doll-like Park Bom

One fan threw a rose at Bom, to which she picked up. Another fan threw another item onstage, but it was Minzy who saw the item. She then picked it up, and gave it to Bom. Bom had this surprised look on her face, apparently touched by the fan’s gesture.

These girls have an endless supply of energy!

Last night also marks the group’s fifth year as 2NE1. Some cakes were displayed on the table (nice branding, Faces & Curves!) and the girls played with icing before singing a “Happy Birthday” song for them.

Hey leader, happy anniversary!

<p “text-align: justify;”>As expected, the girls performed “In or Out,” Sandara’s hit song before she was a member of 2NE1.

The show lasted for a little over two hours. Despite the inconveniences during the show, the performances by the girls were truly memorable and world-class. There’s no question that 2NE1 reigns supreme in the K-pop world, because they have the looks, talent, and charisma to be considered as one of the best in the music industry.
